Olympia – Junko Cultural Exchange: Continuing the Vietnam – Japan Connection
Date Submitted: 13/09/2025
To equip students with communication and collaboration skills – essential competencies of the 21st century – and to prepare them for global integration, Olympia Primary, Secondary, and High School regularly organizes cultural exchange activities. Among these, the exchange program with young friends from the Junko Association of Japan has become one of the most anticipated annual traditions for Olympia High School students.
At the start of the 2025–2026 school year, Olympia High School students were delighted to reunite with their Junko friends in this familiar “cultural rendezvous.” The lively atmosphere was brought to life through music, martial arts, and interactive games, leaving strong impressions on all participants.

The highlight of this year’s program was the hands-on experience of making and tasting Japan’s traditional mochi alongside Vietnam’s delicate Hue tea. This unique culinary fusion not only offered students a journey of flavors but also served as a reminder of the importance of respecting and preserving cultural identities in a globalized world.

Through this exchange, students not only expanded their knowledge of Vietnamese and Japanese cultures but also gained opportunities to develop confidence, openness, and connection – important qualities for becoming global citizens.
These valuable experiences fostered a sense of harmony in cultural exchange and will serve as part of the students’ preparation for future international integration. We look forward to welcoming the Junko Club again in the upcoming exchanges, where the friendship between Vietnam and Japan will continue to grow and flourish.
