Exploring Nature: Sakura Kindergarten’s First Field Trips of the 2025–2026 School Year

In Japanese culture, ensoku (field trip) is more than just a day out. It is an important educational activity that helps children learn from nature, build physical strength, develop teamwork, and foster friendships. Accompanying every ensoku is the beloved bento lunch box—a symbol of family love and care. Each carefully prepared bento serves as an invisible bond between home and school, ensuring that every experience is warmly connected to family.

On September 12, 2025, students from the Fuji, Yuri, and Himawari classes enjoyed their first trip of the school year to Ha Gia Forest Eco-Park, beginning an exciting journey of outdoor learning. Joining them were bento boxes lovingly prepared by their parents.

Ha Gia Forest welcomed the children with its lush greenery and refreshing air.

Each child proudly carried a bento box prepared by their parents.

During this trip, the vast greenery of Ha Gia Forest felt like a warm and welcoming friend, opening its arms to greet the children’s tiny footsteps. From early morning, the forest came alive with laughter and cheers as the students played traditional Vietnamese games such as Dragon Snake, Cat and Mouse, Blindfolded Goat Catching, Ball Balance, and The Joyful Hoop. Each activity not only allowed the children to release their energy and build agility but also gently taught lessons in patience, teamwork, waiting their turn, and cheering for friends—essential values for character development.

Traditional games and physical challenges strengthened class unity.

By midday, under the warm sun, the children eagerly opened their bento boxes lovingly prepared by their parents. Each bento was a “work of art” filled with creativity, care, and affection. For Japanese children, field trips are always accompanied by bento, symbolizing the connection between family and school. Thanks to this, even in the vastness of nature, children could still feel the warmth of home, bringing complete happiness to their journey.

At noon, the children excitedly opened the bento boxes prepared by their parents.

Beautifully decorated bento boxes stood as symbols of the bond between family and school.

In the afternoon, the children transformed into lively “forest dwellers,” joyfully playing in the green surroundings before returning to their parents’ embrace. The day ended with bright smiles, innocent eyes, and unforgettable memories.

Following the impressive first trip of the Fuji, Yuri, and Himawari blocks, on the morning of September 23, 2025, the Ume and Kiku students eagerly set off for their own early-year adventure at Minto Farm, continuing their journey of discovery in nature.

Continuing the adventure, Ume and Kiku set out on their first field trip of the new school year on September 23, 2025.

The morning began with cheerful melodies such as Hello Hello How Are You, Wheels on the Bus, and Baby Shark, filling the air with singing and laughter. These joyful warm-up dances set the stage for a day of surprises in the green outdoors. The children visited friendly animals, listened to the meaningful story The Blooming Earthenware Pot, and freely ran and played in the refreshing open space.

The spacious natural setting was the perfect place to release their energy.

Beyond the fun, every activity carried educational value: encouraging the children to observe nature with curiosity, practice sharing and listening, and nurture a love for plants and animals. This Sakura Kindergarten field trip became an exciting “overture,” opening a new school year full of discovery and connection with the natural world.
