Letter from the Director of Training and Operations 

On August 19, 2026, Olympia Primary, Lower Secondary & Upper Secondary School (VN291) was approved by Cambridge University Press & Assessment to offer the Cambridge Lower Secondary programme and host the Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint examination. This marks an important next step after the school became a Cambridge International School VN291 and Cambridge Primary School on November 1, 2024, with two Cambridge Primary Checkpoint examinations successfully conducted. 

Olympia has successfully conducted two Cambridge Primary Checkpoint examinations. 

WHAT IS CAMBRIDGE LOWER SECONDARY? 

Cambridge Lower Secondary is an academic programme designed for students aged approximately 11–14, corresponding to Stages 7–9 of the Cambridge Pathway. Olympia has been approved to offer the full integrated Cambridge Lower Secondary programme across all Lower Secondary grades, from Grade 6 to Grade 9. 

The integrated programme aims to support students’ holistic development in knowledge, academic skills and critical thinking through both Vietnamese and English. Most importantly, students are thoroughly prepared to continue with Cambridge programmes at higher levels or pursue other international programmes. 

At Olympia, the integrated Cambridge Lower Secondary programme is offered in three subjects: ESL (English as a Second Language), Math (Mathematics) and Science.

CAMBRIDGE LOWER SECONDARY CHECKPOINT: AN INTERNATIONAL BENCHMARK 

An important component of Cambridge Lower Secondary is the Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint. This assessment provides the school with an international benchmark for viewing students’ learning outcomes within a broader reference framework. It also plays an important role in giving the school and parents an additional international measure for monitoring students’ progress, alongside the regular forms of assessment conducted at school. 

The first Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint at Olympia is expected to take place in 2027.
