Strengthening Influenza Prevention and Control Measures

Date Submitted: 13/02/2025

By Official Dispatch No. 658/SYT-NVY on strengthening flu prevention and Official Dispatch No. 321/SGDĐT-HC&GDCT on implementing preventive measures in schools, we provide the following recommendations from the Ministry of Health to help safeguard the health of students and their families.

Essential Influenza Prevention Measures

1. Seek medical advice for flu-like symptoms

If you or your child experience a cough, fever, runny nose, headache, or fatigue, do not self-diagnose or purchase medication without medical consultation. Instead, visit a healthcare facility for proper assessment and treatment.

2. Practice proper respiratory hygiene

Always cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing using a tissue, cloth handkerchief, sleeve, or elbow to minimize the spread of respiratory droplets.

3. Wear masks and maintain hand hygiene

  • Wear a face mask in crowded places and on public transportation.
  • Wash hands frequently with soap and clean water, or use an alcohol-based sanitizer—especially after coughing or sneezing.

4. Avoid spitting in public places

Proper hygiene helps reduce virus transmission and protects community health.

5. Minimize contact with infected individuals

Avoid close contact with flu patients or those showing flu-like symptoms unless necessary.

6. Get vaccinated against seasonal flu

Annual influenza vaccination is the most effective way to strengthen immunity and prevent severe complications.

7. Maintain a healthy lifestyle

Engage in regular physical activity, maintain a balanced diet, and prioritize adequate rest to boost overall immunity.

Protect yourself, your family, and the community!

By following these preventive measures, we can collectively reduce the spread of influenza and ensure a healthier environment for everyone.
